Navigate to Appearance > Menus in your WordPress dashboard.
Click “create a new menu” to start. Name your menu for easy identification.
Use the panels on the left to add items to your menu. These can include pages, posts, custom links, or categories.
Organize your menu items by dragging and dropping them into your desired order. You can also create sub-items to make drop-down menus.
Once satisfied, assign your menu to one of the theme’s menu locations or use it in a widget.
Step 2: Add Widgets
Go to Appearance > Widgets. Here you’ll see available widgets and widget areas defined by your theme.
Drag and drop widgets into your desired widget areas. These areas might be sidebars, footers, or other locations depending on your theme.
Widgets can include things like search bars, recent posts, custom HTML, and more.
Step 3: Personalize Your Widgets
After adding a widget to an area, you can usually customize it. Click on the widget in the widget area to expand its options.
Customize the settings as needed. This could involve changing titles, selecting which posts to show, or adding text or HTML.
Click “Save” to apply your changes.
Step 4: Preview Your Changes
Utilize the “Preview” function in the Customizer (Appearance > Customize) to see how your menus and widgets look on your live site.
This step is crucial for understanding how your choices affect user experience and site layout across different devices.
Step 5: Adjust as Necessary
Based on your preview, make any necessary adjustments to ensure your menus and widgets provide a smooth navigation experience and add value to your site.
Remember, the goal is to enhance your site’s usability and aesthetic appeal, so feel free to experiment with different widgets and menu structures.
